Entity portraits and images

Give your characters and places a face, with portraits that change as the story moves forward. · 2 min read

Screenshot style

Choose the visual style you use in Exaratio, and the screenshots will look just like your screen.

Each entity can have its own images: a character's portrait, a view of a place, a drawing of an object. The portrait appears on their sheet while you write and in reading mode.

Add an image

  1. Open the entity's sheet and click Edit (the pencil).
  2. Under Images, click Add image.
  3. Choose an image from the work's library, or bring it in from your computer with Import images (Images in the text).
  4. Click OK.

You can add as many as you like. Click one to write its description.

The portrait

Check Identification image on the image that should be their face. That's the one that appears large on the sheet; the others go below it, one after another. The portrait also goes with their name in the list of entities and in In the scene.

Elin's sheet with her portrait and her images

Click the portrait to see it full screen and go through the other images.

Portraits that change with the story

Your protagonist grows up, grows old or changes how they look. Give each stage a portrait:

  1. Check Identification image on each of their portraits.
  2. For each one, fill in Validity of the image (optional): from when and until when it's their face.

While you write, the sheet shows the portrait that matches the date of the scene. When you move from one chapter to another, the portrait changes on its own.

Remove an image

In Edit, click the image and choose Remove from the sheet. The image stays in the work's library, so you can use it somewhere else.
