Install Exaratio and activate your license
Install Exaratio, open it for the first time and activate your license on your computer. · 3 min read
Install
- Download the installer from exaratio.com/Descargar. Each installer comes in one language; you can add the others later from inside Exaratio (Change Exaratio's language).
- Open it and follow the steps. Exaratio installs on Windows.
- Open Exaratio. Every time it starts, it shows a short introduction: click Begin or wait a few seconds.
The first time, no work is open. After that, Exaratio opens the last work you were working on. If it closed suddenly last time with that work open, it doesn't open it on its own: it offers you Open it now (Exaratio won't open or closes).
Without a license, Exaratio is a reader
Without a license, Exaratio opens .exar works so you can read them, but it doesn't create or write. The works you wrote can always be exported, even if your license expires (Your work is yours: what happens to your works if…). When you open it without a license, you'll see Thank you for using Exaratio and these options:
- I have a license, if you've already bought Exaratio;
- See licenses, to learn about the licenses on exaratio.com;
- Not now, to keep using it as a reader.
Activate your license
Your license is a file: the license title, which ends in .xrtl and which you receive when you buy.
There's no serial number to type.
- Double-click the
.xrtlfile. You can also open the Help → Your license menu and click Import a title. - In the Your Exaratio license window, click Activate on this computer.
- Your browser opens at exaratio.com. Sign in with your account and accept. Exaratio never sees your password.
- Go back to Exaratio: within a few seconds, it tells you the computer is activated.
From then on, you can create, write and export works, signed with your author account. If you wrote a work before activating the computer and it now opens only for reading, click Make this work mine (A work opens only for reading, or doesn't open).
Offline
Exaratio works without the internet. Every so often it validates your license with exaratio.com; if a long time goes by without being able to do so, the Your Exaratio license window tells you how many days are left, and after 30 days without validating, it opens works for reading only until you reconnect and click Validate now.
