- Select the text.
- In Home → Font, choose the formatting: bold (Ctrl+B⌘B), italics (Ctrl+I⌘I), underline (Ctrl+U⌘U), the font or its size.
Strikethrough, subscript, superscript, highlight and color
In the same group: strikethrough, subscript (Ctrl+,⌘,), superscript (Ctrl+.⌘.), highlight (Ctrl+Shift+H⌘⇧H) and Text color.
Formatting belongs to the text
It all stays in the text itself: the ribbon shows the font, size and color where the cursor is, and you change them whenever you like. In a heading too: if you don't want it bold, select it and click bold.
Clear formatting
Clear formatting (Ctrl+Space⌃Space) returns the text to the look of the work's base font (The work's base font).
Copy formatting from another passage
Select the passage you like, click Copy formatting, select the other one and click Paste formatting: it matches in font, size, color, bold and italics. If you copy a whole paragraph and apply it to whole paragraphs, its paragraph style, alignment and line spacing go along too.
