A work opens read-only, or won't open

The badge tells you why; there's almost always a button that fixes it.

  1. Click the Read only badge at the top.
  2. Follow what it says; if there's something to do, it gives you the button.
The reasons
  • Your license isn't active here: new computer, more than 30 days offline or an expired license. Click My license. Meanwhile, export with Export.
  • The work isn't signed: you wrote it before activating this computer. If it's yours, click Make this work mine: Exaratio saves a signed copy next to the file and opens it for you to write. The original doesn't change.
  • It's someone else's: it reads; only its author edits it.
  • It was changed outside Exaratio: the signature doesn't match. Go back to a copy saved with Exaratio.
If it won't open
  • "This work is already open in another window…": Exaratio brings that window forward.
  • "…the computer lets another program peek at Exaratio's windows": a Windows setting lets another program see what Exaratio shows. Other people's works won't open while it's on; yours will. Ask your IT support to turn it off.
