Exaratio 0.9.111

New Collaborate menu: commission work from others, get their sealed delivery and merge it into your work. And translate your books beside the original.

  • NewCollaborate has its own menu and ribbon tab, and gathers everything you do with other people. From there you commission work (proofreading, editing, translation…) using the other person’s collaborator card. The copy goes out encrypted for them alone, with their role, what they may change, the deadline and your instructions.
  • NewWhoever receives a commission works on their copy and delivers it with the exaratio.com seal. You merge it into your work seeing every change, and you decide what goes in.
  • NewIn Collaborate → Collaborators you see who works on the work, with their role and scope. From there you add someone or remove them.
  • NewTranslating a book: the translation is written with the original alongside. The language is chosen from the official ISO 639-1 list, with its name in your interface language. When you prepare an edition, it includes the credits of those who collaborated.
  • ImprovedWhen you open a work with a role you were given, it shows: a band appears below the ribbon, the role goes in the window title, and the first time you are notified. A translator starts in their translation and cannot change the original.
  • ImprovedIf the interface language is missing texts from this version, Exaratio tells you and Preferences offers a complete one. It never replaces your language with one that has fewer texts.
  • FixedThe “Original” button only appears with a translation open. On the welcome screen, “Open work…” no longer disappears when you hover over it.

Exaratio 0.9.76

Each choice in an interactive book now rises on its own stage, which you design. And the work reopens where you left it.

  • NewIn an interactive book, each choice has its stage: a page that rises on its own when the reader reaches the end of the fragment. You design it, with text, images, shapes, background, dimming of what lies behind and an entrance effect (Work → Stage, or “Design the stage…” at the foot of the fragment). When you export or print, it comes out as a page of its own, with the section number of each destination.
  • NewIn the Entities panel, an entity’s images appear at the bottom and can be dragged into the text, right where it is mentioned. The image gallery is grouped by entity, with those named near the cursor first.
  • ImprovedIn the Reader, “See the text” moves the stage aside so you can reread what lies behind it, and “Back to the decision” brings it back. “Start over” takes you to the first page with your progress at zero.
  • ImprovedAt the foot of each fragment, the exit is a tidy card with its options and their destinations, and at the top you can see where readers arrive from. Trying another way to end changes nothing until you use it.
  • ImprovedThe work reopens where you left it: the same chapter, cursor and page position.
  • ImprovedIn Properties of the work, each field is as wide as what it holds, in two columns.
  • ImprovedFont size and line spacing are chosen from a list of the usual values, and can still be typed. Opacity, border thickness and corners are set with a slider.
  • FixedStretching an image from the handle on the side it is aligned to no longer shrinks it suddenly.
  • FixedWhile designing the stage, focus no longer jumps away as you change a value. In the Reader, the title on the cover page is no longer cut off.

Exaratio 0.9.58

Interactive books are here: you build them in a graph, read them by choosing in the Reader, and print them as gamebooks. Plus videos inside the work.

  • NewInteractive books: in Properties of the work → Book type, choose “Interactive”, and the reader decides where the story goes next. Each fragment ends in another one, in a choice with its options, or in an ending. Changing the type deletes nothing.
  • NewThe book graph: in an interactive book, the montage button opens a graph where each fragment is a page. You create fragments with the “+” or by dragging an arrow into empty space; arrows can be connected, moved from one fragment to another, or removed with the ×; hovering over a page highlights its path, and you move the view by dragging empty space and zoom with the wheel.
  • NewThe Reader reads an interactive book along its path: it shows the choices, marks the options that can no longer be repeated, and counts the endings discovered. In review view, the author can switch an option instantly and keep reading along the new one.
  • NewWhen you export or print an interactive book, it comes out as a gamebook: the sections are numbered in the order you wrote them, and each jump says which section to go to. In PDF and Word you can add a continuity mark in the corner of each page, so the reader quickly finds where to continue.
  • NewVideos in the work: when you import a video, Exaratio converts it to a lightweight format and you choose how large the file is. It plays on the page and in the Reader; on paper and in Word, EPUB and Kindle, its cover image is used instead.
  • NewThe AI assistant connected through the agent server can read and build interactive books and work with the videos in the work.
  • ImprovedProperties of the work is now organized into five tabs: The work, Book type, Rights and readers, Text style and For publishing. Fields that depend on another one only appear when they make sense, for example the license only if the work is free, with an open license.

Exaratio 0.9.33

Two fixes: the book montage shows again when you open the work, and in the Reader the 3D book opens right onto the page.

  • FixedIf the book montage was open, opening the work left its button pressed but the strip did not show, and you had to click it twice. It now shows from the start.
  • FixedIn the Reader, with the curvature set to “Flat”, the 3D book grew into a huge page before giving way to the real one. It now opens right onto the page you are about to read.

Exaratio 0.9.31

Several licences on the same computer, the book size from the cover, clearer meanings and the 3D model button on the ribbon.

  • NewOne computer can now hold several licences at once, for example the perpetual one and the beta one. If you remove a licence, the works that depended on it can no longer be edited on that computer.
  • NewThe ribbon has a “3D model” button in the Document group, next to Cover and Fonts.
  • NewIn the cover editor, the Paper section has “Book width” and “Book height”, and “Width to fit the image” keeps the height and sets the width at which the background fits whole. It is the same size as the PDF's pages.
  • ImprovedThe mark of a saved meaning is now a book with a magnifying glass: it sits at the corner of its word and grows when you hover over it.
  • ImprovedMeaning lookup recognises more verb forms in Spanish texts: “Alzábanse” leads to “alzar”.
  • FixedLooking up the meaning of a word no longer marks the work as modified.
  • FixedThe meaning card no longer closes by itself when Wiktionary does not have the word.
  • FixedSaving now removes the “unsaved” dot from the window title, even after an autosave.
